Ayurvedic diet food does wonders to your body if taken in the right way. It reduces the chances of any illnesses and makes one balance the dosha in his or her body. There are some basic rules which need to be followed and here are some of them:
- Fresh food – The food that we have should be fresh and warm. It should not be had cold and definitely not reheated.
- Type of food – According to Ayurveda, the food that we partake should be a bit unctuous in nature. This helps in easy digestion, gives strength to our bodies and improves the skin quality.
- Amount of food – Nobody should have less food and none should have more. The quantity should be such that it fills your stomach and gives you sustenance.
- Digestion – You should have food only when your previous meal is completely digested. In Ayurvedic diet, there is something called the gastric fire which is destroyed if food id had before the previous meal is digested. This leads to weight gain.
- Combinations – A lot of research has been done on combination of foods. The foods which have opposite characteristics should never be had as they may lead to diseases and even death.
Place of eating food – Food should be had in such a place where all your attentiveness should be focused on your plate and nowhere else. - Way of having food – When eating food, one should never be in a hurry. We should eat food enjoying each morsel so that all our sense organs can feel the taste. This will also satisfy our hunger better.
- Speed – The food should be had neither too fast nor too slow. A steady speed should be maintained for best results.
- Concentration – Talking to others, laughing, etc. should be avoided whilst eating.
Dosha – Food should be had so that your specific dosha is balanced.
This diet focuses more on food that will not harm the physical and mental functions of your body. They are more to do with balance and this can be achieved by having food as per your constitution. This will keep one healthy and avoid any diseases from affecting the body. Vegetarian food is considered to be the purest form and is good for anyone. Such food is good for digestion and occurs in a natural form.
